Chris brings more than 20 years experience working in government, media and communications. Prior to joining Northcrest, Chris was Chief of Staff to Toronto Mayor John Tory, responsible for working with Toronto City Council and the municipal public service to implement and communicate the Mayor’s agenda. Before that, Chris worked as a public affairs consultant, holding senior positions with a number of firms in Toronto.
Chris started his career as a journalist, joining the National Post as a staff writer when the newspaper launched in 1998, and later as a broadcaster with CTV News in Toronto. Chris has also worked as a senior political aide in the Ontario government and as an advisor on numerous political campaigns, most recently the re-election of Toronto Mayor John Tory in 2018.
Derek has almost 20 years of experience in real estate development, most recently as Senior Vice-President, Development at First Gulf Corporation, where he was responsible for the East Harbour project, a 60-acre master-planned development of approximately 13 million square feet on the eastern edge of downtown Toronto.
With experience in both public and private sector organizations, Derek has worked on a variety of large, mixed-use development projects, primarily in the Greater Toronto Area. He is actively involved with the Urban Land Institute, currently serving as Past Chair of the Toronto District Council, Chair of the Toronto Governance Committee, and a member of the Technology and Real Estate Council.
Tim has over 10 years experience in finance and accounting, most recently with Toronto-based real estate developers where he managed the finance and accounting functions including financial reporting, investor/partner reporting, treasury and debt financing. With Northcrest, Tim oversees the Finance, HR and IT functions of the organization.
Prior to his work in the real estate industry, Tim spent 5 years in the audit and assurance group of BDO Canada where he obtained his CA, CPA.
Kristy has 15 years of experience in securing approvals and managing real estate projects for a variety of development projects, most recently as VP, Development at Metropia, where she was responsible for managing the professional teams, reporting project progress to Partners and the Board; coordination, negotiation and communication with municipal/regional representations; organizing public consultation sessions; and assisting with development agreements across 12 projects representing over 18.4 M sq ft of GFA and 10,633 homes. Prior to joining Metropia, Kristy was a Project Manager at MMM Group Limited.
She is a full member of the Canadian Institute of Planners and the Ontario Professional Planner’s Institute, a LEED Green Associate, as well as a representative for the Toronto chapter of BILD. Kristy is also an active member of the Urban Land Institute.
Jesse has 15 years of experience in managing large-scale projects, most recently as Director, Project Delivery at Infrastructure Ontario where he was responsible for the Queen’s Park Reconstruction project, a 1.8 million square foot renovation to the Province of Ontario’s head office at the Macdonald Block Complex in downtown Toronto.
Jesse has worked on a variety of large, special purpose and mixed-use development projects in the Greater Toronto Area including the Pan-Am Games Athletes’ Village in the West Donlands neighbourhood and Ontario Place. Jesse’s experience also includes managing teams of real estate professionals in the education, healthcare and justice sectors.
Catharine has held a variety of public policy positions at the provincial and municipal levels, including Senior Policy Advisor at the LCBO and Senior Advisor – Stakeholder Relations for the Mayor of Toronto.
Using this experience, along with her MBA training, Catharine provides strategic and operational support to the EVPs in all aspects of Northcrest’s business, including strategic and business planning, project management and policy/research.
Prior to joining the Northcrest team, Ian held a variety of managerial and operational business positions in international relocations and as owner and manager of a North York-based media and publishing company.
With a background in urban planning and experience in municipal politics, Ian provides support for corporate public affairs, government relations, communications and leads the community and stakeholder relations efforts at Northcrest Developments.
Prior to joining Northcrest Developments, Marina worked as a real estate development manager and development planner for various Municipal and Federal agencies, including CreateTO and Canada Post Corporation.
With a Masters in Regional and Urban Planning, Marina brings a variety of experience managing development projects and consultant teams, stakeholder engagement and securing approvals and for small, medium and large scale development projects across the GTA, Central Canada and internationally.
Dapo brings five years of experience from the infrastructure and development advisory space, supporting public and private corporations with the planning, development, and commercial structuring of large-scale projects: particularly real estate, land development, and transit-oriented developments (TODs).
He was most recently a Senior Consultant at Steer and previously worked as a Global Infrastructure Advisory Consultant at KPMG. In both capacities, Dapo provided wide-ranging financial and market analyses for high profile redevelopment transactions including Waterfront Toronto’s Quayside and East Waterfront Redevelopment, amongst others, which formed the basis for land/deal valuation, deal structuring, negotiations, and investment decisions.
Dapo is actively involved in the Toronto Chapter of the Urban Land Institute (ULI).
Annie joined Northcrest in July 2020 as a Development Coordinator after completing a Bachelor of Environmental Studies degree in Planning at the University of Waterloo. Prior to joining Northcrest, Annie was a Planning Student with WSP where she helped coordinate submissions. She also held intern positions for Niagara Region and City of Windsor where she assisted in research assignments and review of development applications.
With this experience, Annie provides support to the Development Planning Team for the redevelopment of the Downsview Airport site; she assists in the first phase of the development; the master planning process; and the Secondary Plan process.
Yvette brings more than 15 years’ experience of administrative, operational, and organizational leadership having supported both C-Suite and senior level executives during the span of her career.
Prior to joining Northcrest, Yvette was the Personal & Executive Assistant to both Melinda Rogers-Hixon and Loretta Rogers of Rogers Communications Inc. providing her proven skills in applying sound judgment, emotional intelligence, and discretion to time-critical, confidential and unpredictable situations - all vital attributes of a diplomatic first point of contact. Yvette’s experience also includes 5 years in the creative advertising world at BBDO Canada, the Canadian division of worldwide Omnicom Group, and 5 years in real estate, homebuilding, and development at Minto Communities.
An EA advocate, Yvette has served as President of the Young Presidents’ Assistants and continues to share her expertise and knowledge with the EA community via networking and peer support.
